eni OSO is a registered trademark for high quality hydraulic oils formulated for use in all hydraulic systems and equipment. These products are formulated with carefully selected paraffinic base oils and additives with "low zinc" content to ensure very high thermo-oxidative and hydrolytic stability. The oils are available in a wide range of viscosities to meet all practical requirements. (OSO 15 and 22, according to ISO-L-FD classification; OSO 32-150, according to ISO-L-HM classification).

Characteristics (typical values):

Viscosity at 100°C mm2 /s 6.8
Viscosity at 40°C mm2 /s 45
Viscosity index - 100
Flash point COC °C 212
Pour point °C -27
Density at 15°C kg/l 0.880

Properties and performances:

* These oils are intended for power transmission in installations using hydraulic fluids. The oils provide effective lubrication by creating a lubricating film resistant to the high loads that occur between components in contact with relative movement due to the high pressure in hydraulic systems.

* eni OSO oils have very good anti-wear properties, highlighted by the results obtained through specific laboratory tests: - total wear of pump components in the Vikers test, approximately 35 mg; - OSO grades 46-150 pass the 12th load stage under FZG test conditions, while more fluid oils pass the 11th stage;

* The oils have extremely good oxidation resistance and thermal stability, even when subjected to particularly high thermal loads. As a result, the formation of sludge and carbon deposits is avoided, thus reducing the risk of blockage of orifices and valves, while ensuring the maintenance of the lubricating properties of the fluids over time. This reduces the costs of equipment maintenance operations by extending the service life of the oil.

* The high viscosity index, for all grades, leads to minimal viscosity changes, for the working temperature range, thus ensuring a constant flow rate, low friction losses, good hydraulic efficiency and protection against the effects due to cavitation.

* The oils also have low pour points that ensure easy starts at low temperatures of hydraulic equipment, thus avoiding problems that could occur in circulation or in regulation systems.

* Superior anti-corrosion and anti-rust properties inhibit oxidation of the internal surfaces of hydraulic circuits, thus preventing operating difficulties and oil degradation caused by metal oxides that may occur.

* Due to its good demulsifying properties, it prevents the formation of a stable emulsion between the oil and water entering the system through leaks or condensation of vapors from the air. Thus, the fluid retains its lubricating and anti-corrosion properties, even under these conditions.

* Good anti-foaming properties ensure rapid release of entrained air, thus preventing malfunctions in pumps and control devices that would affect the performance of the installation, as well as other problems due to the high compressibility of air bubbles in the oil.

* The oils are characterized by very good filterability, with filtration fineness reaching 3 µm (for viscosities up to ISO VG 68).

Uses:

* AGIP OSO oils are recommended for use in all hydrodynamic power transmission installations, in hydraulic control systems as well as in hydrostatic ones, commonly used in technological installations in various fields: transport, construction, mining, chemistry, metallurgy, machine building, marine, aviation, etc.

* Due to the significant influence of viscosity on the efficiency of the hydraulic system, the viscosity value is recommended by the machine designer. As a rule, oils with low viscosity are used in high-speed machines and precision equipment, while oils with higher viscosity are recommended for low speeds and high hydrostatic pressures.

* AGIP OSO oils are used not only as hydraulic fluids, but also as lubricants for bearings (sliding or rolling) with severe loads, reducers, etc., where operating conditions require special anti-wear characteristics. They can also be used when savings are desired by reducing the number of oils in an installation.
